EFT

Energy Psychology is an emergent field of psychology, officially recognized by the APA in 2012. It encompasses many different mind-body health methods that combine energy techniques with cognitive processing to shift the energetic and emotional blocks held in the body from past traumas. It focuses on the idea that unresolved negative emotions and trauma can disrupt the body’s energy system.

An Energy Psychology technique that I use regularly with my clients are EFT (Emotional Freedom technique)

EFT tapping is an incredibly powerful mind-body health technique for getting rid of all kinds of issues from phobias and traumas to limiting beliefs. It involves tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on emotional or physical issues. It aims to relieve stress, anxiety and pain by releasing energy blockages in the body. The process combines tapping on meridian points with repeated phrases related to the problem, helping to calm the nervous system and reduce distress.

EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique, an Energy Psychology therapy developed by Gary Craig, which has its roots in the mind-body health techniques of Thought Field Therapy and Meridian Tapping. It is perhaps the most widely known self-help technique in our culture today because of its effectiveness in resolving traumas, phobias, limiting beliefs, anxiety, and many other issues quickly and effectively when compared to traditional talk therapy or otherapproaches.   It is also increasingly being used in the field of performance enhancement.  See more mind-body health connections related to EFT in this huge article library.

The beauty of EFT is that it is fast, incredibly effective, and very user-friendly, meaning that once you learn the basic procedure you can resolve many issues on your own at home.  However, it's best to avoid working directly on severe trauma on your own, this should be done with a practitioner.

Most people can make speedy progress releasing old, outdated beliefs and behavior patterns that have held them back in life, and opening the door to new perspectives and a new experience of life.

I offer EFT as part of Energy Medicine sessions when it is apparent that a belief or trauma must be addressed in order for the energies in the body to shift, or, to raise the issue more fully within the energy systems so that we can access it in the chakras, meridians, electrics or other system where it "resides."  I also do straight EFT sessions, and combine it in Transformational Coaching work.

*When the topic of the EFT session is severe PTSD, I will only proceed with the agreement that a licensed mental health counselor may need to be consulted as part of the process.*

EFT, Energy Healing work together

It is not unusual in the course of working with someone over a period of time that we find ourselves doing energy work one day, and EFT or combining them in some way.
